Eggcellent

Easter crept up on me like no one's business this year. The Thursday before I was hurriedly boiling eggs, grabbing the last of the toxic filled, non-natural dye kits at Target, and buying last minute candy for the Easter baskets.

But, despite the lack of time, we managed to do everything we normally do, and Peyton loved it all. She, once again, let her crafty genes take over with the egg dying. She gobbed on glue, stuck on stickers, and sprinkled on glitter - making the eggs virtually shellacked.

On Easter morning, she giggled as she searched the house for the bunny's hidden baskets (she did MUCH better this year, finding all her goodies in less than 20 minutes. Martin and I have to up our hiding game)! It was definitely a Frozen holiday - she scored Frozen sunglasses, a Frozen beach towel, Frozen flip flops, Elsa and Anna dolls, and a Frozen book.

After a quick costume change, we headed to the Westin Kierland for their Easter Eggstravaganza - where they dump hundreds of thousands of plastic eggs on the golf course, have the Easter bunny arrive via helicopter, and provide bounce houses, face painting and build-a-bear workshops. Last year it was open to the public and I'm pretty sure 95% of Arizona showed up. This year, they only sold 100 tickets in advance to locals (those staying at the hotel or having brunch get in), which definitley helped with the crowd control. It was still a giant cluster, but lots of fun at the same time.

Eggs.

Action shot! Peyton literally hopping through the egg farm.

Sidebar - I waited in line for an hour and paid $24.95 for a crappy picture of Peyton with a mall Easter bunny three days before Easter. At Kierland, this gem was free and I walked right up. Lesson learned.

We had a great dinner at the Richardson Residence, where Peyton searched for more baskets, ate more candy, got more presents, and clearly learned the true meaning of Easter. (To-do list add: sign Peyton up for Sunday school. Stat.)
