Pat's Run

For the third year in a row, Martin and I dumped Peyton and Grandma and Grandpa's on a Friday night, carbed up, and woke up at the crack of dawn to participate in Pat's Run. This year, Uncle Jim joined us (along with 30,000 others) on the 4.2 mile course through Tempe and ASU campus.

I'm not a runner by any means, but I love this race. For starters, it's for a great cause: The Pat Tillman Foundation. Second, it takes place at ASU, and reminds me how much I loved going to school there. Third, the bars on Mill Ave. open early so you can celebrate with a beer or mimosa afterwards.

And this year, I really tried hard to "train" for my run. Thanks to the help of neighbors, I quickly became obsessed with the Map My Run app, recording every run, doing new routes, and trying to increase my stamina and decrease my miles per hour.

Come race day, I was ready. I had a good run, and beat my time from last year by almost two minutes (my official finish time was 37:04. Martin smoked me again, finishing in 28:24). Can't wait until next year.
