The Frozen Weekend Continues...

Since all we talk about in this house is Frozen anyway, it seems fitting that Peyton's weekend of fun with Mommy continued along the same theme of Frozen all day every day.

We invited the crew over to Casa Hellmer for a little Movies Under the Stars action - featuring the outdoor premier of Frozen. Friends (including Gabriella, Alexa, Simryn, Sammie, Cooper, Scott, Noah and Jameson) gathered in the courtyard as the sun was setting in their finest PJ's to be enchanted by the fairy tale on the big screen once again.

Waiting for the sun to set to start the movie.

But let's back up just a bit. See, the movie came out on DVD on Tuesday. And I'm pretty sure there hasn't been a craze as fantastic as this since Cabbage Patch Dolls or maybe Tickle Me Elmo. I pre-ordered my copy from the Disney store months in advance. And I arrived at Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall a mere 45 minutes after it opened to grab my copy.

What greeted me was something I never thought I would witness in the Happiest Store on Earth. First off, there was a line stretching almost outside the doors. The Frozen display was stripped completely bare of all Elsa, Anna and Olaf merchandise. Only one, sad looking Christhope plush remained. Moms were pushing. Kids were screaming. It was a scene out of a movie. I even saw one lady scream at a Disney store worker demanding she find her an Elsa plush doll. When the associate told her they were sold out, the woman pointed to another patron in line (who was carrying the doll in question) and shouted, "BUT SHE HAS ONE AND I NEED ONE!!" It was, as I so often like to say, a complete and total shit show.

Needless to say, I guarded that DVD with my life as I was making my way back to my car. And I didn't dare leave it in the car - ripe for stealing - while I went to work. Instead, I kept it securely fashioned to my person all day long, until I was able to safely lock it up inside my house.

Back to movie night. The kids enjoyed pizza and snacks, and I played popcorn princess. I had envisioned children sitting quietly in front of the movie, mesmerized by the storyline, and politely eating their snacks. And that happened. For about ten minutes.

All lined up in neat little rows...

After a bit, the kids went berserk and began playing with blankets, throwing food (and punches!) and basically ignored the film. The moms tried their best to encourage the kids to sit the fuck down so we could drink our wine and gossip, but it didn't last. There was just way too much excitement. The one person who did watch the movie - start to finish - was my neighbor and good friend Miss Laura. Her kids are grown and she had yet to see the movie.
