We made the cross country trip from DC to Arizona in incredible fashion. Martin and I have never been known to pack light, and adding a baby into the mix doesn't help. We brought four giant suitcases, a bag of toys, a stroller, a car seat, a car seat base, and God only knows what else with us. Luckily, Peyton slept for most of the trip, and we made it to Arizona in relatively sound shape.
Our first activity was Zoolights. Peyton hadn't been feeling well all day (we later found out the poor thing had two ear infections and pneumonia!), so we weren't sure if she would really enjoy the experience. But boy did she ever! As soon as we walked through the gate, her eyes lit up, and she started squealing with delight. The squealing did not stop for the entire walking tour of the zoo. And our little sign language guru couldn't control herself - she signed "light" with both hands continuously throughout the park.
It was a great night, and we enjoyed spending some quality time with my sister, Jim, and their three month old Scott.
The highlight, however, was the $5 light up stick Grandpa bought for her. She would not let go of it, and we keep it in my diaper bag for extreme meltdown circumstances!
