Birthday Extravaganza: Too Cool for School

Peyton celebrated her first birthday in true diva fashion - complete with a night out on the town, special outfits for every occasion, and a little attitude thrown in for fun. The first of several parties was at her daycare on Thursday, January 13. Martin and I were able to take some time off of work to join in the festivities, which included cupcakes and juice and singing to the birthday girl.

Peyton picked out special chocolate and vanilla cupcakes for her classmates, one of whom tried desperately and unfortunately to steal the spotlight from our one-year-old diva.

Peyton relished in the limelight as her classmates sang happy birthday and her teachers carefully placed the candle atop her cupcake. Although she was wearing a happy face to suit the occasion, she took special note of those among her who did not sing cheerfully or pay appropriate attention.

"Decent," Peyton thought, "decent..." as she forced a Shopper's Club cupcake down her throat. "Not fit for a queen, though, but certainly good enough for the peasants surrounding me."

"Shopper's Club, eh, Mom? Thanks for splurging. I only turn one once."

"And since you're incapable of singing Happy Birthday, paying attention, or otherwise giving me my due respect, you won't be needing your cupcake anymore, now will you?"

Peyton loved being the center of attention, but she HATED her fancy birthday hat I had custom made for her. She screamed her head off every time she saw it. Glad I spent beaucoup bucks on it. Lesson learned.

The excitement proved a bit too much - the party wore her out and she was ready for a quick power nap in the afternoon before the next activity!

  2. That should say: "The picture of her stealing the cupcake back from the little girl who kept stealing her thunder is PRICELESS."
