Poor little Monkey had tubes put in her ears on Friday. She has had four ear infections in as many months, antibiotics don't seem to do jack squat for her, and she was basically miserable. So, we decided to try the tubes. We woke up at 5am, bundled up, and headed to the surgery center in Fairfax. Peyton was exhausted (she does not appreciate being woken up). But she was a trooper while we waited for what seemed like forever.
They finally took her back (she was the first, and youngest, of at least 7 kids having the same procedure done). It looked like an ear tube assembly line. I went back with her while they put her to sleep. She didn't cry - instead she was looking around the operating room at the lights and people. She calmly closed her eyes, and I was immediately ushered out. Within minutes of getting back to the waiting room, the Doctor came back to say everything went well. Peyton was groggy, a little cranky, but overall, she handled everything like a rock star. She spent the rest of the day sleeping (with mommy and daddy), getting spoiled (ice cream for dessert!) and playing in her favorite pj's. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this does the trick, and 2011 will be ear infection free.
Peyton loved looking at the fish tank in the waiting room.

Waiting to go in...

All dressed up in our hospital gear...

This is her right after in the recovery room. Poor little thing...

Peyton was spoiled rotten all day - she took not one, but two naps, outside of her crib, snuggled in our arms.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Richardson for my Get Well flowers and ballon!

It's amazing how quickly these little ones bounce back. She was all smiles by bath time!
